2019 La Signorina
Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco; Adelaide Hills. “La Signorina is a multi-varietal white blend, predominantly from a single steep east-facing slope. The slope’s exposed stony soil heats early by the gentle morning sun enabling a long, slow and gentle ripening resulting in small yields of grapes abundant in aroma, acidity, flavour and texture. The four varieties are used to produce a multi-dimensional blend, with exotic and alluring aroma, flavour and texture all in harmony with each other.” - Casa Freschi

2018 Chardonnay
Adelaide Hills. Single vineyard wine, with 2018 producing slightly higher yields enabling fruit to ripen easily, maintaining well-balanced natural acidity.
90 Points - “Hand-picked and barrel fermented under the aegis of ambient yeast, this mealy chardonnay spent 13 months on lees. While it was not stirred, the sensation is one of an oatmeal to creamed corn richness, mingling with hints of stone fruit pith.” - Ned Goodwin for Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion 2021
2016 Nebbiolo
Langhorne Creek. Extra concentrated flavour, with balanced tannin and minerality. Chosen from the best 15% of parcels from the small vineyard that showed depth of aromatic complexity, flavour and tannin, ideal for cellaring.
95 Points - “This from the younger plantings, 17yo at vintage. 30 months in used French oak puncheons. Announces the variety immediately on the bouquet, with aromas of rose petal, warm red earth and roasted nuts. Flavours of sour cherry and cranberry gently saturate the palate, and then authentically grippy tannins take over to prolong the finish in convincing style.” - Steven Creber for Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion 2020
Available vintages: 2014, 2015
2015 Syrah
Langhorne Creek.
93 Points - “Elegant wine here. Though it says 14 percent on the bottle it feels more svelte, spicy and fine boned, and there’s plenty of flavour packed in. I like the bouquet, redolent of exotic spice, briar, the red berries, and how it replicates in that silky glide across the palate. Lovely wine.” - Mike Bennie, WBM March/April 2018
90 Points - “From the original vineyard planted by Attilio Freschi (David Freschi's father) in '72, open-fermented, 25% whole bunches, matured for 18 months in (two) used French barriques, 50 dozen made. Packs prodigious power into is medium-bodied 14% frame. The colour has moved along at a confident clip, and is consistent with the neatly softened palate, part Langhorne Creek, part the cork closure.” - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2018
2017 Malbec
Langhorne Creek, from the original 2.5 hectare plantings by David’s parents in 1972. The small yields and extended ripening conditions of 2017 resulted in excellent quality fruit, and a gloriously fragranced wine. Blueberry, rhubarb, violet and spice on the nose, with deep, intense flavour and strong backbone of full, fine tannins enhanced by saline minerality.

2014 La Signora
Nebbiolo, Shiraz, Malbec; Langhorne Creek.
95 Points - “70% nebbiolo, 15% each of shiraz and malbec, 22 individual parcels from a single vineyard separately open-fermented with wild yeast, macerated for 3-4 weeks, matured for 18 months in used French oak. Clear red-purple; the bouquet is fragrant, spicy cherry/sour cherry expanding in the best way on the long medium-bodied palate. It's interesting how nebbiolo dominates the flavours, the function of the other two varieties contributing more to weight and structure.” - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2018
2015 Profondo
Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Malbec; Langhorne Creek. Sourced solely from the oldest plantings. The ninth bottling in 16 years of Profondo, as the wine is only produced when the result is of exceptional quality and shows potential for long-term cellaring. The Cabernet Sauvignon brings savoury notes of black olive, mint, cassis, herbs and raspberries; fleshed out by the expansive and spicy characters of the Shiraz; and the Malbec adding a layer of dark fruits and earth. Complex, multi-layered, elegant.
90 Points - Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion 2019
2019 Ragazzi Pinot Grigio
Adelaide Hills. Complex and concentrated flavour with pear, apple, and lime up front. The vibrant fruit flavours are supported by light, fine phenolics, juicy acidity and strong minerality.
92 Points - “This is excellent grigio, a category of wine that is among the most exciting of the contemporary Australian wine-scape. Excellent because it melds ripe, quenching sensations of baked apple and nashi pear gelato with a chewy phenolic riff, adding to the textural equation. hand-picked and wild-fermented in wood with time on lees, care has been taken. This is not complex. But that is far from the point. What it is, is a dangerously easy wine to drink of balance, joy and versatility across many a table. Delicious!” - Ned Goodwin for Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion 2021
2018 Ragazzi Chardonnay
Adelaide Hills. The 2018 vintage was one of the best for Casa Freschi’s Chardonnay, with fruit showing impressive depth and extract. The addition of Chadonnay Musque (33%) lends light floral and herb notes to the apple, lime, nectarine and white peach flavours. The palate is crisp and minerally, with plenty of fresh fruit and underlying nutty complexity.
93 Points - “A complex winemaking approach employed with clones/rootstocks/slopes and differing vine age components treated individually. All parcels were fermented and aged in used French barriques. The wine certainly has some complexity too, with toasty, malty, spicy characters vying for attention with the ripe stone fruit varietal aromas and flavours. A distinctive style.” - Steven Creber for Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion 2021
2017 Ragazzi Nebbiolo
Langhorne Creek. Produced to be an approachable and accessible style of Nebbiolo, designed to be drunk in its youth. Slightly shorter maceration and maturation periods.
92 Points - “Fruit from a single vineyard with a multiplicity of clone and rootstock combinations. Fermented in small open fermenters, aged 10 months in seasoned French barriques. Noticeably pale colour, even for nebbiolo. Earthy, savoury aromas with just a hint of rose-petal. Soft and approachable on the palate, finishing with a sour cherry like astringency. Drinking well now.” - Steven Creber for Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion 2021
